Solar electric systems (Solar PV) produce low-cost, environmentally friendly electricity by converting sunlight into electricity without the use of moving parts, noise, pollution, or fuel.

Solar electricity is generated using PV (Photovoltaic) cells.

These are made up of layers of semiconducting material, mainly silicon, that are encased in glass or plastic. Panels or modules that can be put on your roof are made up of groups of cells that are anchored together.

The more sunlight there is, the more electricity is generated.

Solar PV panels get their energy from sunshine rather than temperature, thus even on cloudy days, they may create a significant amount of electricity.


Our environment is ideal for the use of solar PV panels because the UK has a consistent number of average sunlight hours each year. The strength of the cells in full sunshine is measured in kWp (kilowatt peak)


Solar PV panels can be installed in as little as three days and are usually up and running within a few hours.

You have a roof or a wall that is constantly exposed to sunlight (within 90 degrees of south)


Your roof has enough room and is strong enough to support the weight of the panels.


(A 3kW system requires approximately 24m2 of roof area.)
